His memories of that sweet moment were interrupted by Helena,
informing him that George Beaton, the mining engineer, was there
to see him.
“Good morning, Eteo,” George said as he walked in and shook
Eteo’s hand.
“Good morning George. How have you been?”
“I’m good Eteo, and you? How’s the crazy VSE treating you?”
“Well enough, I guess, for all its ups and downs. What have got
for me?”
George opened his briefcase, took out a couple of maps, spread
them on Eteo’s desk, and located a property in North British Columbia.
One map showed the general location and road access, while the
more detailed map showed faults and areas where work had been
done by previous owners.
“Quite a bit of work has been done on this property but the previous
owners let it lapse. I don’t know why. From all the indications,
it deserves further work, even drilling.”
“Hey, let’s not rush to judgment, George,” Eteo cautioned, “if it
really is ready for drilling, why did they let it lapse and without even
trying to sell it or at least organize a joint venture?”
“Like I said, I don’t know why they let it lapse, but it definitely
looks very good to me. I’ve staked a large position around it to protect
the main part, and it makes a very good prospectus.”
“Do you think it would go through the system without a lot of
fanfare? Do you have solid reports on it?”
“I guarantee it. It comes with a good recommendation from my
firm,” George insisted. “Do you have a home for it?”
“I’m registering one as we speak.”
