“Yes, I have talked to her; there is some room. We’ll look at it as soon as you
decide that this is what you want.”
“Okay then, let Jennifer have her day with Edith, and see where that takes us.”
However, it doesn’t take long for Jennifer to make up her mind.
“Honey, this is phenomenal. This is a really beautiful place; I hope you like it
as much as I do,” she says, excitedly.
Hakim knows where this is going by seeing her and gets George.
“Okay, George, make it work. Write on it. What do you think we should write?”
George smiles at Hakim and Jennifer.
“We write $1,700,000,” he says stoically.
“Well, that’s not too far from the asking price, George.”
“You want the place, you pay the price, Hakim. That’s how the market works.
You should know that better than anyone.”
Hakim agrees and instructs George to write the offer. Hakim signs and Edith
promises to present it to the seller’s attorney the next morning.
This was the quickest sale Edith or George, for that matter, have ever had.
They both smile, knowing they have done well in the short time they have spent
with this young couple.
Later, when Hakim and Jennifer are at his apartment with all the excitement still
in their veins in the form of adrenaline, she wants to tell everybody, so she gets on the
phone and is busy for about an hour. First she calls her mom, then Helena, then a
couple of other friends from work. The night is exciting; Hakim sits at his media
desk and sends a second e-mail to Ibrahim giving him the latest news.
