Outcrops
Grasses sway from
left to right and semi-circle the
breeze demanding direction
beaver in the pond builds
a home with his young family
mate already perusing
foundations for the watery base
with rocky outcrop, steadying air
tree branches hold sunlight
perhaps a nuthatch will
appear out from the canopy
of orange hue to commence
and direct his symphony
under the auspices of spruce boughs
SIXTH DAY
Your face extended
like the whitewashed rooms
of the paternal home.
The doves were taking communion
from your hand and they were leaving
in your eyes compassion for
the crawlers and little earth beings.
Your high-noon bloomed like carnation
and you saunter among the tall columns
decorating them under the night stars.
Now you lean on pride
the altar of sighs

If time stopped
like a sigh by the shore and
his breath vanished like
sound of echo fading
in the body of absence
and if his heart succumbed
to the agony of guilt for sin
he hasn’t yet committed
his steps will always lead
from wailing to solemn song
and from his full glass
his shred of joy he’ll gift you
and never ask for reward
