Poem by Miltos Sachtouris
STAGE
They had placed a head
made of clay on the table
they had decorated the walls
with flowers
they had cut out of paper two bodies
making love on the bed
on the floor you could see snakes
and butterflies
a big dog was guarding
at the corner
strings were criss-crossing the room
from every direction
it wouldn’t be prudent to pull them
one of the strings was pushing the bodies
to make love
just outside the misfortune
was scratching the door.
