Λησμονημένοι κι άγνωστοι ζήσαμε, σπόνδυλοι από ναούς ερει-

πωμένους, μαύρες στοές,

παλιά, ρυτιδωμένη γη που μόνο έναν αιώνιο ύπνο υποσχόταν —

κι ώ σοφή προνοητικότητα των παιδιών, που πιάνουν από νω-

ρίς φιλίες με το χώμα.







We’ve lived forgotten and unknown vertebrae of tumble down

temples, dark stoas

ancient wrinkled earth that only promised us an eternal sleep —

and oh, wise prudence of the children, who early on start their

friendship with the soil.
