ARCTURUS

Guide of the seven bulls
that graze in the kingdom of your concern
you measure the stagnate century.
You’ve built the borders of your struggle
with four drops of frozen sweat
in the shape of the crusaders banner.
Oh, Alkalurops
navigator of the children’s laughter
and alphabet of the elders.
You stand amid the gray age of rocks
and with your flute you sing about
the labor of death
of both the powerful and the immortal.

~Dimitris Liantinis, “Hour of the Stars”/Translated by Manolis Aligizakis
